Wine Dinner

On February 27, 2023 my boyfriend and I decided to cook a lovely meal after working long hours and sit down with a glass of wine. After going to Kroger in Christiansburg, VA and dropping a bottle of wine onto the ground, the embarrassment I felt did not compare to the delectable taste of wine that I got to enjoy later in the day. The first wine was red, it was a Cabernet Sauvignon and it was a lot better than the one that I had last time. Both of the red wines that we have tried within these past two posts was a Cabernet, and this one blew the other one out of the water. Luckily, I had a wonderful recommendation from a gentlemen working in the store, and he picked out Louis M. Martini. It was around twenty dollars and it was very smooth. I did not want anything sweet so this was the recommendation he gave and I really enjoyed it. It is from Sonoma County in 2019 and it was a darker red with notes of a complex fruit. Now, of course I had to get a white wine as well, and because I dropped my precious bottle of Moscato on the ground in front of what felt like the entire city of Christiansburg, I ended up choosing a Sauvignon Blanc from the brand Josh. I have had this wine before so there wasn't much to it unfortunately. It was good but it is not my favorite. I prefer sweeter wines or a chardonnay, so this was not my cup of tea. This specific bottle is from California from the Josh Cellars. I have had different types of wine from Josh before, and this one unfortunately was my least favorite. From both of these Wine Dinners that I have done, the red wines have come out on top. Which is quite peculiar due to my taste buds usually leaning towards white wines, and much sweeter wines at that. The dinner went well, we had tomato based pasta with steak and the red wine went with it perfectly. This was another successful wine dinner, and now it is time to take on a winery and taste some different wines that might be out of my comfort zone.
