On April 6th 2023 I tried two different bottles of wine. One of which was Beringer's Cabernet Sauvignon and the other was Robert Mondavi Buttery Chardonnay. I had never had a buttery Chardonnay before but this one was exceptional.
The Beringer was a 2020 bottle made in Napa, California. The taste was very dry, there is no sweetness that comes from this bottle. Now, although it was not sweet it did have floral notes it it with a hint of black cherry. Red wine is not my favorite and I have to say that this wine did not exceed any expectations unfortunately. With that being said, it was a really good wine and with a pricing of $12.00 it wasn't hard to beat. The taste was just a little on the heavier side and I personally was not a fan of this particular brand. However, that does not mean that I will not try other wines from this brand.
Moving on to the buttery Chardonnay, it was also made in California in 2021 and this was exceptional. I have never had a wine that was buttery before and this wine was very smooth. This bottle was actually picked out for me as I was told that I would like the smooth flavor. I truly did like it, it has to be one of if not my favorite Chardonnay. Now I have been to a few places where I have had Chardonnay that has been fantastic, but I never asked the brand. So moving forward I will have to claim this as my favorite. Usually when I drink Chardonnay I will have the Kendall-Jackson brand, and that was my favorite until I had this one. I truly believe it is because of the buttery taste. With my first sip I was amazed at how light and crisp it was. Not too sweet and not dry in the least bit. This wine was a little pricier than the other one, ranging at $14.00 it did exceed my expectations and I will definitely have to try this one again. Also, I noticed it was a fun coincidence that the wine I drank was by Robert Mondavi who also was in our wine lecture for this week. So it was really interesting to get to find out more about him as well.
